Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was over.
But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an improved serve.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional championship, took control to create a decider.
He rescued 4 early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
